1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Dr. Beth S. Thompson on her retirement from the Board of
1.3Animal Health.
1.4WHEREAS, Dr. Beth S. Thompson has provided over 13 years of service to the Minnesota
1.5Board of Animal Health; and
1.6WHEREAS, Dr. Thompson's service to Minnesota culminated with her appointment as
1.7executive director of the Board of Animal Health and as state veterinarian. Dr. Thompson's list of
1.8program responsibilities included traceability, swine, carcass disposal, markets and exhibitions,
1.9and data requests; and
1.10WHEREAS, Dr. Thompson's tenure as Executive Director and State Veterinarian has
1.11exemplified the Board of Animal Health's mission statement "to protect the health of the state's
1.12domestic animals through education and cooperation with veterinarians, producers, owners and
1.13communities"; and
1.14WHEREAS, Dr. Thompson's leadership has been vital to protect the state's economy, the
1.15security of our food supply, and the livelihoods of Minnesota's livestock producers; and
1.16WHEREAS, Dr. Thompson's scientific knowledge, clear communication, and collaborative
1.17spirit have been deeply appreciated by members of the Minnesota Senate; and
1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.19honors Dr. Beth S. Thompson and thanks her for her service to the State of Minnesota.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Dr. Beth S. Thompson.
