1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the East Grand Forks High School boys hockey team on winning the
1.32015 State High School Class A boys hockey championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Minnesota State High School League has 275 schools, in 154 programs,
1.7participating in boys high school hockey, and the tournament is in its 71st year; and
1.8WHEREAS, the East Grand Forks Green Wave made their tenth appearance in school
1.9history in the 2015 Minnesota State High School Class A boys hockey tournament on March
1.104-7, 2015; and
1.11WHEREAS, the Green Wave entered as the number three seed, and successfully defended
1.12their 2014 title by defeating Hermantown 5-4 in overtime, in the final game to win their second
1.13state hockey championship; and
1.14WHEREAS, the Green Wave finished the regular season with an outstanding record of
1.1526-4-0; and
1.16WHEREAS, a new attendance record was set at the 2015 tournament, with 135,618 fans
1.17attending Class A and Class AA games at Xcel Energy Center and Mariucci Arena; and
1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.19congratulations are extended to the members of the East Grand Forks Green Wave boys hockey
1.20team for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.21BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.22an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
2.1the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to David Pace,
2.2Superintendent of East Grand Forks Public Schools.
