1.3health consultation with primary care practitioners; amending Minnesota Statutes
1.42012, section 256B.0625, subdivision 48.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 256B.0625, subdivision 48, is amended to
1.7read:
1.8    Subd. 48. Psychiatric Mental health consultation to primary care practitioners.
1.9Effective January 1, 2006, Medical assistance covers consultation provided by a
1.10psychiatrist licensed mental health professional as defined in section 245.462, subdivision
1.1118, clauses (1) to (6), or section 245.4871, subdivision 27, clauses (1) to (6), via telephone,
1.12e-mail, facsimile, or other means of communication to primary care practitioners,
1.13including pediatricians. The need for consultation and the receipt of the consultation
1.14must be documented in the patient record maintained by the primary care practitioner. If
1.15the patient consents, and subject to federal limitations and data privacy provisions, the
1.16consultation may be provided without the patient present.
