1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to St. Louis County; authorizing the private sale of certain real and
1.3personal property.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. PRIVATE SALE OF LAND; ST. LOUIS COUNTY.
1.6    Subdivision 1. Private sale of land. (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes,
1.7section 373.01, or any other law to the contrary, St. Louis County may, without advertising
1.8for bids, sell and convey directly to the current lessee or its assigns the land described in
1.9paragraph (b). The consideration must be in an amount negotiated between the county and
1.10the lessee or its assigns. The conveyance must be executed by October 31, 2014.
1.11(b) The land to be sold is located in St. Louis County and consists of the parcel of
1.12property known as the Chris Jensen Health & Rehabilitation Center and adjacent property,
1.13all located within the following legal description: a parcel of land located within the
1.14Northwest Quarter, Section 16, Township 50 North, Range 14 West of the Fourth Principal
1.15Meridian lying west of Rice Lake Road.
1.16(c) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 373.01, or any other law to the
1.17contrary, St. Louis County may include some or all tangible and intangible personal
1.18property associated with the Chris Jensen Health & Rehabilitation Center as part of the
1.19negotiated sale price.
1.20(d) The conveyance must be in a form approved by the St. Louis county attorney.
1.21The county attorney may change the land description in paragraph (b) to implement the
1.22intent of St. Louis County.
2.1(e) The lessee is providing under the lease nursing home services formerly provided
2.2by the county, and the county has determined that its land management interests are best
2.3served if the ownership of the property is transferred to the lessee or its assigns.
2.4    Subd. 2. Disposition of lease. Upon the conveyance, the existing lease of the real
2.5and personal property is merged into the fee ownership.
