1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. [181.531] CONDITIONS PRECEDENT TO EMPLOYMENT
1.7PROHIBITED.
1.8No employer shall:
1.9(1) refuse to consider for employment or refuse to offer employment to an individual
1.10because of the individual's status as unemployed;
1.11(2) publish in print, on the Internet, or in any other medium, an advertisement or
1.12announcement for any job that includes:
1.13(i) any provision stating or indicating that an individual's status as unemployed
1.14disqualifies the individual for a job; and
1.15(ii) any provision stating or indicating that an employer will not consider an
1.16applicant for employment based on that individual's status as unemployed; or
1.17(3) direct or request that an employment agency take an individual's status as
1.18unemployed into account in screening or referring applicants for employment.
1.19EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
