            Senator Meekhof offered the following resolution:

            Senate Resolution No. 205.

            A resolution of tribute for the Honorable John Proos.

            Whereas, It is a distinct honor to congratulate Senator John Proos as he completes his service to the Michigan Senate. Senator Proos has been a consensus-seeker and vocal advocate for the people of the Twenty-first District in southwest Michigan during his eight years in this legislative body; and

            Whereas, Senator Proos earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Marquette University and a master's degree in higher education administration from Michigan State University. He put his drive to help the people of Michigan to work as a long-time staffer in Congressman Fred Upton's office, before being elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2004 where he served three terms; and

            Whereas, While in the Senate, Senator Proos has taken a leading role in numerous legislative initiatives, including criminal justice reform and an update to the state's energy policy, sponsoring more than 50 public acts. He has served as the vice chair of the Energy and Technology and the Local Government committees, and as a member of the Finance, Redistricting, and Michigan Competitiveness committees during his time in the Senate. He's also been a key figure on the Appropriations Committee, including chairing subcommittees on Corrections and the Judiciary; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the Senate, That we offer this expression of tribute to commend and thank the Honorable John Proos for his notable contributions to this legislative body and to our state; and be it further

            Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Senator Proos as evidence of our gratitude and best wishes.
