SENATE BILL NO. 964
A bill to amend 2001 PA 142, entitled
"Michigan memorial highway act,"
(MCL 250.1001 to 250.2092) by adding section 1a.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 1a. Beginning on the effective date of the amendatory act that added this section, a highway may be designated a memorial highway under this act only for an individual who did either of the following:
(a) Died in the line of duty in 1 of the following circumstances:
(i) In service to this state or a local community.
(ii) While serving in the United States Armed Forces.
(b) Demonstrated acts of great heroism or valor that disregarded his or her own safety to protect the lives of others.
