     A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled

 

"Michigan election law,"

 

(MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 761b; and to repeal acts

 

and parts of acts.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 761b. (1) The name or title, or both, of an elected or

 

appointed official of this state or a political subdivision of this

 

state may appear on any ballot-related material that is provided to

 

an elector if both of the following requirements are met:

 

     (a) The name or title, or both, of the elected or appointed

 

official is printed in the same point type, font, and color as the

 

return address on an absent voter ballot return envelope.

 

     (b) A picture or other representation of the elected or


appointed official does not appear on the ballot-related material.

 

     (2) As used in this section, "ballot-related material"

 

includes any of the following:

 

     (a) Any material provided to an elector with an absent voter

 

ballot.

 

     (b) Absent voter ballot instructions.

 

     (c) An envelope used to mail an elector an absent voter ballot

 

or any other ballot material.

 

     (d) An absent voter ballot return envelope.

 

     Enacting section 1. Section 931a of the Michigan election law,

 

1954 PA 116, MCL 168.931a, is repealed.
