House Resolution No. 161.
A resolution to urge Chrysler to continue manufacturing automobiles at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.
Whereas, The men and women of Chrysler’s Sterling Heights Assembly Plant have made a tremendous commitment to support and foster a small team workplace model and learn the latest flexible manufacturing techniques; and
Whereas, Through the hard work and dedication of the men and women of Chrysler’s Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, the facility has become and remains a world-class manufacturing facility; and
Whereas, The men and women of Chrysler’s Sterling Heights Assembly Plant have devoted their careers to building a facility of which they can be proud and which produces cars that are unsurpassed in quality; and
Whereas, With hundreds of millions of dollars invested into Chrysler’s Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in order turn it into one of the best facilities in the entire world in which to build cars, closing the plant would be a terrible waste; and
Whereas, Amid the difficult changes occurring in Michigan’s economy, the domestic automobile industry remains the cornerstone of our state, and Chrysler’s success remains critical to Michigan’s future; and
Whereas, Closing Chrysler's Sterling Heights Assembly Plant would devastate the men and women of the plant, their families, their communities, and the local business that depend on the plant and its workers. Certainly, the men and woman at this plant are committed to the recovery of Chrysler and to being active contributors to its success in the years to come; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we urge Chrysler not to close its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Chrysler Group LLC.
