A bill to amend 1887 PA 128, entitled
"An act establishing the minimum ages for contracting marriages; to require a civil license in order to marry and its registration; to provide for the implementation of federal law; and to provide a penalty for the violation of this act,"
by amending section 1 (MCL 551.101).
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 1. It shall be is necessary for all parties intending to be married to obtain a marriage license from the county clerk of the county in which either the man or woman party desiring to be married resides, and to deliver the said license to the clergyman or magistrate who is to officiate, before the marriage can be performed. If both parties to be married are non-residents nonresidents of the state it shall be is necessary to obtain such the license from the county clerk of the county in which the marriage is to be performed.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless Senate Joint Resolution _____ or House Joint Resolution T (request no. 02690'19) of the 100th Legislature becomes a part of the state constitution of 1963 as provided in section 1 of article XII of the state constitution of 1963.
