HOUSE BILL NO. 5911

A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

"The revised school code,"

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1807a.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 1807a. For a public school that is operated by the board of a school district or intermediate school district, a resident of the school district or intermediate school district, or for a public school that is operated by the board of directors of a public school academy, a resident of this state, may bring an action for injunctive relief or a writ of mandamus in the circuit court in which the public school is located to compel the public school to comply with the requirements under section 99d of the state school aid act of 1979, MCL 388.1699d. If a resident prevails in a civil action described in this section, the court shall award the resident reasonable attorney fees not to exceed $15,000.00.

Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless House Bill No. 5722 of the 101st Legislature is enacted into law.
