A bill to amend 1968 PA 251, entitled

"Cemetery regulation act,"

(MCL 456.521 to 456.543) by adding section 12b.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 12b. A cemetery owner that owns a crematory, or an operator of that crematory, shall establish and maintain inside that crematory a refrigeration unit that is suitable for storing human remains. If the body of a deceased individual is not cremated within 24 hours after arrival at the crematory, the cemetery owner or operator must keep the body in a refrigeration unit under this section with an air temperature not to exceed 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
