A bill to amend 1846 RS 16, entitled
"Of the powers and duties of townships, the election and duties of
township officers, and the division of townships,"
(MCL 41.1a to 41.110c) by adding section 2a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 2a. A township board may, by resolution approved by a
majority of the members of the township board, authorize the
township to submit an application to the county board of
commissioners of the county in which that township is located
requesting that the name of the township be changed. The
application must include the proposed name of the township.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days
after the date it is enacted into law.
Enacting section 2. This amendatory act does not take effect
unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 5057 (request no.
04215'17 a) of the 99th Legislature is enacted into law.
