HOUSE BILL No. 4986
October 14, 2015, Introduced by Rep. Lucido and referred to the Committee on Government Operations.
A bill to provide for the official time followed in this
state; and to provide for the elimination of daylight savings time
in this state.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1. The governor shall petition the United States
Department of Transportation to include this entire state within
the eastern standard time zone as provided for in the uniform time
act of 1966, 15 USC 260 to 267.
Sec. 2. As authorized in 15 USC 260a, this entire state,
including all political subdivisions of this state, is exempt from
and shall not follow daylight savings time or the advancement of
time as it is otherwise referred to.
Enacting section 1. This act takes effect 90 days after the
date it is enacted into law.
