A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled

"The Michigan penal code,"

(MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 478b.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 478b. (1) A person who intentionally uses his or her professional position of authority over another person to prevent or attempt to prevent the other person from reporting an alleged violation of section 136b, sections 520b to 520e, or section 520g to a title IX coordinator at a postsecondary educational institution is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 1 year or a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or both.

(2) As used in this section, "postsecondary educational institution" means a degree- or certificate-granting public or private college or university, junior college, or community college that is located in this state.

Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days after the date it is enacted into law.
