HOUSE BILL No. 4820

 

 

July 25, 2019, Introduced by Rep. Afendoulis and referred to the Committee on Government Operations.

 

     A bill to amend 1911 PA 209, entitled

 

"An act to adopt and prescribe the design of a state coat-of-arms

and state flag, and their use; to prohibit the use of the same for

advertising purposes; to prescribe standards for the manufacture,

sale, and display of certain flags of the United States and the

state flag; and to prescribe the powers and duties of certain state

agencies and officials,"

 

(MCL 2.21 to 2.27) by adding section 8.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 8. (1) Except as provided in the armed forces

 

commemoration act, 2004 PA 402, MCL 435.341 to 435.343, only the

 

following flags may be displayed outside of state government

 

buildings:

 

     (a) The flag of the United States.

 

     (b) The state flag bearing the arms of this state.

 

     (c) The governor's flag as described in section 4.

 


     (2) As used in this section, "state government building" means

 

a facility as that term is defined in section 114 of the management

 

and budget act, 1984 PA 431, MCL 18.1114.
