HOUSE BILL No. 4659

 

 

May 22, 2019, Introduced by Reps. Kennedy, Brenda Carter, Whitsett, LaFave, Eisen, Cambensy and Cherry and referred to the Committee on Health Policy.

 

     A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled

 

"Natural resources and environmental protection act,"

 

(MCL 324.101 to 324.90106) by adding section 515.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 515. (1) The department shall install, by 1 year after

 

the enactment date of the 2019 amendatory act that added this

 

section, and maintain, at state park entrances, state park and

 

state forest campgrounds, and access points to state trails, signs

 

of a uniform design warning of both of the following:

 

     (a) That ticks may be found in the area.

 

     (b) That tick bites may result in Lyme disease or other tick-

 

borne diseases.

 

     (2) As used in this section, "state trail" means a right-of-

 


way owned or operated by the department and adapted to hiking,

 

horseback riding, cross country skiing, bicycling, or snowmobile or

 

ORV use. State trail does not include a forest road as defined in

 

section 81101.
