Summary
Create a new section of subchapter 10 of KRS Chapter 224 to define "PFAS chemicals"; require the Energy and Environment Cabinet on or before January 1, 2022, to promulgate administrative regulations establishing maximum PFAS chemical limits and monitoring requirements for drinking water provided by public and semi-public water systems; require the Energy and Environment Cabinet on or before January 1, 2022, to promulgate administrative regulations establishing maximum PFAS chemical limits and monitoring requirements for discharges into the waters of the Commonwealth; provide that maximum PFAS chemical limits be designed to protect public health and be updated; provide that nothing in the section interferes with the Energy and Environment Cabinet's responsibilities under the federal Water Pollution Control Act or the Safe Drinking Water Act; amend 227.395 to prohibit the use of personal protection equipment for firefighting or firefighting training that contains intentionally added PFAS chemicals after January 1, 2022.
