SENATE RESOLUTION

     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Abraham Hall on winning the State Championship in Individual Wrestling.

    Whereas, With only a minute and eight seconds left in regulation, Abraham Hall scored a takedown against his opponent, and then held for a 3-1 decision and the state title in the heavyweight match of the 74th annual IHSAA individual state wrestling finals;

    Whereas, A shattering overtime loss at last year's state tournament motivated Hall to work as hard as he could to be the top wrestler in his weight class;

    Whereas, Abraham was proven successful in his vow to win state. In fact, he hasn't been beaten in IHSAA wrestling since last year's defeat at the state finals. His impressive undefeated season includes 50 straight wins. Hall has a 90% career win percentage in overtime;

    Whereas, At the close of the state championship tournament, Hall was selected for the Ward E. Brown Mental Attitude Award. This award is named in honor of the IHSAA's fourth commissioner and included a $1,000 scholarship to

Bremen High School, in Hall's name. The award is given based on the merits of the wrestler's athletic ability, scholarship, leadership, and the individual's demonstration of positive mental attitude; and

    Whereas, Abraham is ranked eighth in his academic class, with goals to eventually pursue a law degree. He was also named All-State for the 2011 football season. Abraham has accumulated numerous successes this year and presents strong promise for many future accomplishments: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate congratulates Abraham Hall on his state championship wrestling title.
    SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Abraham Hall.
