A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Ethan Chu on
winning the Igor Sikorsky Youth Innovator Award.

MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Ethan Chu on
winning the Igor Sikorsky Youth Innovator Award.
Whereas, Ethan Chu of South Bend, Indiana won the Igor
Sikorsky Helicopter 2050 Challenge, clinching the Sikorsky
Youth Innovator Award;
Whereas, The national Sikorsky Helicopter 2050 Challenge
encouraged young innovators aged 9-16 to create a more
environmentally friendly helicopter;
Whereas, The competition judges rated designs based on
the uniqueness of the concepts, detail of descriptions, and the
creativity of the presentations;
Whereas, Ethan won for his conceptual design of a
circular-shaped medical evacuation helicopter he calls the AH-
9 Diamondback. His concept set him apart from the other 300
proposals based on his creativity, design, and the feasibility of
his ideas;
Whereas, Ethan's detailed work covered everything from improvements in aircraft weight and better fuel efficiency, to the
benefits of carbon nanotubes. With such detailed work and
specifications, his quality of work was outstanding relative to his
peers;
Whereas, Ethan dedicated hours of each and every day for
several months to accomplish his goal of winning this prestigious
award;
Whereas, Along with receiving such a distinguished award,
Ethan received the unique opportunity to visit the Sikorsky
Headquarters in Stratford, Connecticut, where he and his father
toured the assembly line of Sikorsky's Blackhawk and Seahawk
military helicopters;
Whereas, In the future, Ethan plans to embrace his passion for
the sciences and mathematics and pursue a career in aerospace
engineering; and
Whereas, Ethan Chu is a remarkably driven and accomplished
young man who is poised to leave a lasting impact on the world. We
congratulate him on his recent success and wish him well in the
future: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate congratulates Ethan Chu on winning the Igor Sikorsky Youth Innovator Award.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Ethan Chu.
