A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring Bernice Corley for her
time working at the Indiana State Senate.

MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring Bernice Corley for
her time working at the Indiana State Senate.
Whereas, After graduating law school, Bernice used her
law degree to help those in need, representing indigent
clients as a staff attorney at the Indiana Legal Services
Organization and as a Deputy Public Defender at the Marion
County Public Defender Agency;
Whereas, Before working at the Indiana Senate, Bernice
worked as a clerk for the Honorable Carr Darden in the
Indiana Court of Appeals, and as an associate attorney at
Locke Reynolds, LLP;
Whereas, In March of 2008, Bernice returned to the Indiana Senate _ where she previously served as an intern in 1995 _ as Minority Counsel for the Indiana Senate Democratic Caucus;
Whereas, Bernice has ably represented the interests of the Senate by providing legal analysis, managing caucus constituent research, and assisting in the development of legislation;
Whereas, Bernice has given back to her community by
serving on the boards of directors of various community
organizations, including the Southeast Neighborhood
Development Corporation, Southeast Neighborhood School
of Excellence and the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing
Partnership;
Whereas, Bernice has continued to work for the Marion
County Public Defender as Contract Appellate Counsel, and
in this capacity has argued before the Indiana Supreme
Court;
Whereas, Bernice lives in Fountain Square with her
husband, Todd, a.k.a. Dude, whom she met while sailing.
The two were married at the Indiana Statehouse on New
Year's Eve, 2009;
Whereas, Bernice loves traveling, riding her motorcycle,
cycling, traveling the country to attend Van Morrison
concerts, and renovating her historic home; and
Whereas, Even though she is not going far, Bernice will
be sorely missed at the Indiana Senate, and the Senate wishes
her the best in all her future endeavors: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly honors and thanks Bernice Corley for her dedication to the Indiana Senate and wishes her well.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Bernice Corley.
