MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION urging the Legislative Council to
assign to the Pension Management Oversight Commission the topic of
disability benefits for municipal emergency medical services workers.
Whereas, Municipal emergency medical services workers place
themselves in harm's way regularly;
Whereas, Municipal emergency medical services workers often work
side by side with fire and police departments in assisting those injured
in accidents or crimes;
Whereas, In order to determine if the unique needs of municipal
emergency medical services workers are being met, further study of
this issue is desirable; and
Whereas, In order to ensure that municipal emergency medical
services workers receive the necessary benefits, it behooves the
Legislative Council to assign the topic of disability benefits for
municipal emergency medical services workers to the Pension
Management Oversight Commission for further study: Therefore,
of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate urges the Legislative Council
to assign to the Pension Management Oversight Commission the topic
of disability benefits for municipal emergency medical services
workers.
