A SENATE RESOLUTION to celebrate the Week of the
Young Child, in conjunction with the National Association for
the Education of Young Children, beginning the 10th of April,
2011.

MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION to celebrate the Week of the
Young Child, in conjunction with the National Association for
the Education of Young Children, beginning the 10th of April,
2011.
Whereas, Anderson's Park Place Children's Center and
other local organizations, in conjunction with the National
Association for the Education of Young Children, are
celebrating the Week of the Young Child, April 10th - 16th, 2011;
Whereas, These organizations are working to improve
early learning opportunities, including early literacy programs,
that can provide a foundation of learning for children in
Anderson, Indiana;
Whereas, Teachers and others who make a difference in the
lives of young children in Indiana deserve thanks and
recognition;
Whereas, Working families need child care and supportive
employer policies to be able to meet the needs of their young
children throughout the day;
Whereas, Children, especially those from low-income families, need better access to high-quality early childhood programs;
Whereas, Too many children in the United States live in
poverty, without good nutrition and health care; and
Whereas, public policies that support early learning for all
young children are crucial to young children's futures:
Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Senate of the Indiana General Assembly does hereby recognize April 10-16, 2011 as the Week of the Young Child in Indiana and encourages all citizens to work to make a good investment in early childhood.
SECTION 2. That copies of the resolution be transmitted to Barbara Tuttle, Director of Park Place Children's Center.
