A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating the Greensburg
High School boys basketball team for winning the Class 3A
boys basketball state championship.

MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating the Greensburg
High School boys basketball team for winning the Class 3A
boys basketball state championship.
Whereas,
The Greensburg High School boys basketball
team overcame a 12 point second-half deficit to defeat Fort
Wayne Concordia Lutheran High School in an exciting 73-70
overtime victory to win the Class 3A state championship;
Whereas, Even though leading scorer Sean Sellers fouled
out with 48.2 seconds left in regulation time, Bryant McIntosh
hit a 3-point shot with 25 seconds left to tie the game at 61;
Whereas, Greensburg took its first lead of the game with
2:20 remaining in overtime;
Whereas, With 22 seconds remaining, Colin Rigney drove
for a bucket that gave Greensburg its 73-70 edge, with
Concordia missing a 3-point shot just before the buzzer;
Whereas, Bryant McIntosh, Ryan Welage, and Colin Rigney
combined for all 12 points in overtime;
Whereas, Junior Sean Sellers established a new individual record with a perfect 100 percent free throw average making 11 of 11 attempts;
Whereas, This victory marks the first state championship in
team competition in the history of Greensburg High School;
Whereas, With this victory, the Pirates completed their 26-1
season with the best winning percentage (.963) and most
victories in the state, regardless of class affiliation; and
Whereas, Outstanding athletic accomplishments such as
this deserve special recognition: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates the Greensburg High School boys basketball team for its Class 3A state championship and wishes the team members, student managers, and coaches continued success in all their future endeavors.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to team members, student managers, assistant coaches, head coach Stacy Meyer, principal Phil Chapple, and Greensburg Community Schools Superintendent Tom Hunter.
