SENATE RESOLUTION

     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Pat Miller Bateman on 50 years working the Indiana elections.

     Whereas, In November 2011, Pat Miller Bateman of Granger, Indiana, celebrated 50 years of working Indiana elections, a job she considers her patriotic duty to the people of Indiana;

    Whereas, Bateman's dedication to free and fair elections led her to work nearly every job, including inspector, judge, clerk, and sheriff;

    Whereas, One of the roles Bateman found particularly fulfilling was serving as inspector; a role that calls for prepping the polling site, overseeing operations, handling paperwork, and attending meetings covering new election laws;

    Whereas, With 50 years of working Indiana elections, Pat Miller Bateman has seen just about everything, from identification woes to an entire crew of precinct workers who called in sick, leaving her to work the poll alone; and

    Whereas, Despite the ups and downs of Indiana elections, Pat Miller Bateman continues to enjoy contributing to her community and her state: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates Pat Miller Bateman on 50 years of working Indiana elections.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Pat Miller Bateman.
