SENATE RESOLUTION


     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Jeremy Gulley on being named 2011 Citizen of the Year by The Herald Press.

    Whereas, Huntington North High School Principal Jeremy Gulley has been named 2011 Citizen of the Year by The Herald Press;    

    Whereas, Principal Gulley received a warm hero's welcome by the entire student body upon returning in September 2011;

    Whereas, Gulley was deployed for 11 months to the Khost Province of Afghanistan with the United States Army;

    Whereas, Gulley was chosen along with 60 other Hoosier soldiers to travel to Afghanistan to teach Afghani students modern agricultural techniques;

    Whereas, Among their lessons, the students learned about crops, how to maintain fresh vegetation in greenhouses, and how to raise poultry to gather their eggs. He introduced greenhouses to students of six different Afghani schools; and

    Whereas, Principal Gulley put Huntington on the map from

halfway across the world. Students, parents, and teachers of Huntington North High School are extremely fortunate to have Jeremy Gulley as the leader of their school: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates Jeremy Gulley on being named 2011 Citizen of the Year by The Herald Press.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Jeremy Gulley.
