A SENATE RESOLUTION recognizing the 100th anniversary
of the Hawthorne Arbor of Gleaners.

MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION recognizing the 100th
anniversary of the Hawthorne Arbor of Gleaners.
Whereas, The Hawthorne Arbor of Gleaners have been
making a difference in their communities for 100 years;
Whereas, Gleaner Arbors where developed to allow people
the opportunity to become more involved with their
communities through service projects and group activities;
Whereas, Gleaner Arbors are currently located in Florida,
Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, and Ohio;
Whereas, The Hawthorne Arbor has been a proud
supporter of numerous organizations and activities within the
community, including: the Cedar Lake Volunteer Fire
Department, the Historical Society, Lake County 4-H, Relay for
Life, ARC Bridges, Food Pantry, and St. Jude House;
Whereas, In 2010, the Hawthorne Arbor maintained
Freedom Park and supported the Halstead House 4-H, among
other charitable work;
Whereas, The Hawthorne Arbor celebrated the organization's 100th anniversary by throwing a potluck picnic complete with fishing, wagon rides, old-fashioned games, and bingo; and
Whereas, Over the last 100 years, the Hawthorne Arbor has
substantially contributed to the betterment of the community.
We wish them continued success over the next 100 years:
Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes the 100th anniversary of the Hawthorne Arbor of Gleaners.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Dan Sutton.
