MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION requesting the bureau of motor
vehicles to issue a special license plate for Bronze Star recipients.
Whereas, The Bronze Star is awarded by the United
States armed forces for "heroism or meritorious achievement
in ground combat";
Whereas, The Bronze Star may be awarded for bravery,
merit, or meritorious service;
Whereas, When it is awarded for bravery, the Bronze
Star is the fourth highest combat award of the United States
armed forces and the ninth highest military award (including
both combat and noncombat awards); and
Whereas, Our nation creates special days to recognize
the sacrifices of all men and women in our armed forces, but
the creation of a license plate for Hoosier veterans who have
received the Bronze Star would recognize these war heroes
every day: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the bureau of motor vehicles is hereby
requested to design and issue a special license plate for Bronze Star
recipients.
SECTION 2. That copies of this resolution be transmitted by the
Secretary of the Senate to the commissioner of the bureau of motor
vehicles.
