RESOLUTION No. _____
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Mayor Jim
Fleck on his retirement.
Whereas, Mayor James "Jim" Fleck, an attorney,
businessman, and two-term mayor of Columbia City,
Indiana, is retiring at the end of 2011;
Whereas, Mr. Fleck is a long-time native of Columbia
City, Indiana. He grew up, went to school, and practiced law
in Columbia City;
Whereas, Mr. Fleck has worked with libraries, schools,
day care centers, recreational groups, and a rehabilitation
center in his efforts to improve Columbia City;
Whereas, Mr. Fleck is the founder of the Fleck
Leadership Center, a personal development school in
Columbia City;
Whereas, Mr. Fleck speaks across the nation and has
published books on market planning, communications, and
customer service. His books include: The Library Story:
How to Market Your Library Through Story; and The
Wizard's Media Handbook: Profitably Promoting Your
Library with the Media;
Whereas, Mr. Fleck was the President of the Board of
Trustees of the Peabody Public Library in Columbia City. In
addition, he was the President of the Indiana Public Library
Trustee Association. Under his leadership, a beautiful new
library was completed;
Whereas, Mr. Fleck has been married to his wife Kay for
38 years. Kay is the President of Passages, Inc.; and
Whereas, Mayor Jim Fleck has had a remarkable career
in a variety of capacities, and his retirement is well-
deserved: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly congratulates Mayor
Jim Fleck on his retirement.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mayor Jim Fleck.
