A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the Penn High
School Volleyball team on winning the 4A state championship.

RESOLUTION No. _____
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the Penn High
School Volleyball team on winning the 4A state championship.
Whereas, The Penn High School Volleyball team won its
first state championship on November 6, 2010 when it swept
Muncie Central, the defending state champions, 25-18, 30-
28, and 25-22;
Whereas, Kaitlyn Hickey's crushing kill down the middle
of the floor capped the Class 4A heavyweight battle at Ball
State University, setting off the Penn celebration;
Whereas, Penn's fantastic year included a first ever win
over Muncie Central on September 11th, a school record 39
victories, the first ever one loss season, and the ultimate
capstone, a first ever state championship;
Whereas, Penn won its final 33 matches of the season
after suffering their lone defeat, a 2-1 loss to Class 2A state
champion, and number two nationally ranked Muncie Burris
back in August 2010;
Whereas, The final was the last for Head Coach Lisa Pawlik, and for her sister, Assistant Coach Maureen Hale. Pawlik retired on March 10, 2011 after 17 seasons at the helm. She finished with 514 wins, five state finals appearances, 11 seasons of 30 or more victories, and a state
championship as head coach of the Penn Kingsmen. In
addition, she was NIC Coach of the Year in 2000, 2002, and
2010; and Indiana Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2010; and
Whereas, The Indiana General Assembly congratulates
the Penn High School Volleyball team, players Jordan
Brough, Kristen Cornish, Emily Crowe, Sarah Dikos, Annie
Drews, Sam Heberling, Kaitlyn Hickey, Emily Hildebrandt,
Becca Lira, Natalie Meert, Lexie Pawlik, Kristin Ruoff,
Morgan Schlarb, and Emily Tavares; and coaches Lisa
Pawlik and Maureen Hale on winning the 4A
state
championship: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly congratulates the
Penn High School Volleyball team on winning the 4A state
championship.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to each player on the Penn High
School Volleyball team; coaches Lisa Pawlik and Maureen Hale; and
Principal Steve Hope.
