A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Bob Kraft upon his
retirement from president of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Whereas,
Robert E. Kraft
began his teaching career at
Plaza Park
Middle S
chool in Evansville, where he taught 7
th
and 8
th
grade mathematics and social studies for ten years;
Whereas, Bob went on to serve as principal at Perry
Heights Middle School for seventeen years. During his time
there, Perry Heights became one of the most progressive
middle schools in Evansville
, earning the designation as
a 4-
Star school
and
excelling in both academics and athletics;
Whereas, Bob then became principal at Scott Elementary
School, which was the largest elementary school in
Evansville with over 800 students.
Scott Elementary also
earned a 4-Star school title under Bob's leadership;
Whereas, Bob's dedication to his students made him an
outstanding educator. He has always known every student by
name, and always showed support for his students by
attending their school activities;
Whereas, Bob retired in 1996 and devoted himself to
volunteering in his community;
Whereas, Bob is very active in his church. He has taught
a Sunday-School class, served on the church council, and
served as chairman of the church endowment committee. He
also helps serve a weekly dinner at the Good Neighbor Club;
Whereas, In addition to his volunteer work in Evansville,
Bob shares his kindness and expertise throughout Indiana;
Whereas, For the past two years, Bob has served as
president of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association;
Whereas, Prior to becoming the president, Bob was on
the board of directors, and he was the chair of the Legislative
Committee for the association;
Whereas, In his two years as president, Bob has overseen
the development of the Indiana Retired Teachers Foundation
from a committee to a full branch of the association, lobbied
for the betterment of all of Indiana's retired teachers, and
continued to move the association into a more viable, grass-
roots organization;
Whereas, Bob has been married to Janice for 52 years.
They have a daughter, Ruth, son-in-law, Jeff, and three
wonderful grandsons; and
Whereas, Bob Kraft has spent his life's work caring for
the children and the teachers of Indiana: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly honors Bob Kraft
upon his retirement as president of the Indiana Retired Teachers
Association.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to Bob Kraft.
