RESOLUTION No. _____



     A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the 2012 Super Bowl Host Committee and the city of Indianapolis for their efforts in hosting Super Bowl XLVI.

    Whereas, The Super Bowl Host Committee served as the city's ambassador to incoming Super Bowl fans and as a manager of local resources such as city services, event venues, accommodations, and thousands of volunteers;

    Whereas, The Super Bowl Host Committee was capably led by Chairman Mark Miles and CEO Allison Melangton;

    Whereas, The Super Bowl Host Committee partnered with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful Inc. and the John H. Boner Community Center to plant 2,876 trees in the community, exceeding the goal of 2012 trees;

    Whereas, The Super Bowl Host Committee helped manage the Near East Side Legacy Project which raised more than $154 million through public and private partners to revitalize Indianapolis' Near Eastside ;

    Whereas, The Super Bowl Host Committee designated twenty Super Celebration sites around Central Indiana to showcase Hoosier hospitality;

    Whereas, By all accounts, the hosting of Super Bowl XLVI

was a complete success, and demonstrated that Indianapolis is a world-class city;

    Whereas, There were over 1.1 million visitors to Super Bowl Village and over 265,000 visitors to the NFL experience;

    Whereas, The Super Bowl Host Committee was comprised of 35 staff members and 150 volunteer co-chairs who oversaw over 8,000 volunteers;

    Whereas the Nielson ratings indicated that Super Bowl XLVI was the most watched event in television history: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly honors the Super Bowl Host Committee and the city of Indianapolis for their efforts in hosting Super Bowl XLVI.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Super Bowl Host Committee Chairman Mark Miles and CEO Allison Melangton.
