SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION No. _____

    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging our Indiana United States Senators to support clean energy and climate change legislation.

    Whereas,Clean energy and climate change legislation will create up to 40,000 jobs in Indiana, including good- paying manufacturing and construction jobs for workers installing wind turbines, retrofitting buildings and building the next generation of fuel efficient cars;

    Whereas, Jobs created by clean energy and climate change legislation will be less likely outsourced and will create revenue and reduce unemployment in Indiana communities;

    Whereas, Clean energy and climate change legislation will revolutionize the way our nation produces energy by moving us to an 80% renewable energy standard by 2050;

    Whereas, Clean energy and climate change legislation will enhance our national security by reducing our reliance on oil produced by countries unfriendly to the United States and eliminate the need for American soldiers to engage in conflicts over energy interests;

    Whereas, Clean energy and climate change legislation will reduce greenhouse gas pollution 20% by 2020 and 83% by 2050, which reductions will avert the worst impacts of

climate change; and

    Whereas, Clean energy and climate change legislation will allocate funds towards upgrading our nation's electrical grid and creating a modern 'supergrid,' which, over decades, will save hundreds of billions of dollars of our nation's energy costs: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:

    SECTION 1. That this Resolution urges our Indiana United States Senators to support clean energy and climate change legislation.
