Urges the legislative council to assign to the sentencing policy study committee the topic of the appropriate penalty for: (1) murder committed in the presence of a child; and (2) violent crimes committed in the presence of a child or against a person who had a protection order against the perpetrator.

    A BILL FOR AN ACT concerning criminal law and procedure.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SOURCE: ; (10)SB0043.2.1. -->     SECTION 1. [EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE] The general assembly urges the legislative council to assign to the sentencing policy study committee the study of the issue of the appropriate penalty for:
        (1) a murder committed in the presence of a child less than sixteen (16) years of age; and
        (2) a violent crime committed:
            (A) in the presence of a child less than sixteen (16) years of age; or
            (B) by a person who was the subject of a protection order issued on behalf of the victim of the crime.
