[EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2012]: Sec. 16.1. (a) This section applies to
the Lawrenceburg Conservancy District located in Dearborn
County.
(b) The Lawrenceburg Conservancy District possesses unique
challenges because it:
(1) is responsible for maintaining and operating an extensive
flood protection system along the Ohio River;
(2) is subject to regulation by the United States Army Corps
of Engineers; and
(3) is subject to regulation by the Federal Emergency
Management Agency.
The Lawrenceburg Conservancy District is also unique because it
receives funding from the lease of property for the operation,
maintenance, and improvement of a work of improvement for
water based recreational purposes and from investment income
rather than from a tax levy. This section is necessary for the
conservancy district to compensate directors commensurate with
their workload and responsibilities. The compensation for the
directors under subsection (c) promotes that purpose.
(c) The directors are entitled to reasonable compensation in an
amount that is:
(1) approved by a majority vote of the board of directors; and
(2) authorized by a court order.
(d) In addition, the directors shall be reimbursed for actual
expenses, including traveling expenses at a rate equal to the rate
paid to state officers and employees. Claims for expense
reimbursement must be accompanied by an itemized written
statement approved by a recorded motion of the board of directors.
