        A HOUSE RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to assign to an interim study committee the topic of volunteer firefighters holding elected office.
    

    Whereas, In order to ensure that all aspects of this issue are fully studied, it behooves the state of Indiana to assign the topic of volunteer firefighters holding elected office to a study committee: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to assign to an interim study committee the topic of volunteer firefighters holding elected office.
    SECTION 2. That the committee, if established, shall also

determine how many people will be affected by this issue.
    SECTION 3. That the committee, if established, shall study the staffing impact that may be felt by volunteer fire departments under IC 3-5-9, which was enacted in the 2012 General Assembly.
    SECTION 4. That the committee, if established, shall operate under the direction of the legislative council and that the committee shall issue such reports as directed by the council.
