        A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring the Chesterton Tribune on the occasion of the 129th anniversary of its founding.
    

    Whereas, The Chesterton Tribune was established in 1884 and has been published continuously since that time;

    Whereas, Founded by Arthur J. Bowser, the Chesterton Tribune has been owned and run by the Canright family since 1928;

    Whereas, The Chesterton Tribune serves northern Porter County, including the towns of Chesterton, Porter, Burns Harbor, Dune Acres, and Beverly Shores;


    Whereas, Published Monday through Friday, the Chesterton Tribune provides the community with local news, local history, police news, Associated Press news, business news, sports news, and church listings; and

    Whereas, Newspapers have played a vital part in the development of Indiana and the United States by providing citizens with insight into developments occurring beyond the confines of their daily lives: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives congratulates the Chesterton Tribune for 129 years of dedicated service to northern Porter County and hopes that the newspaper will continue to serve the people of this region for many years to come.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit copies of this resolution to editor-publisher Warren H. Canright and co-owner Betty Canright.
