        A HOUSE RESOLUTION urging the Legislative Council to sponsor a statewide contest to find a replacement for the mural in the House chamber.
    

    Whereas, The mural entitled "The Spirit of Indiana" by Eugene F. Savage displayed in the Indiana House of Representatives has graced that chamber for more than four decades;

    Whereas, Although dear to the hearts of all Hoosiers, the persons and things depicted in this historic mural are representative of a society that has long ago disappeared; and

    Whereas, Perhaps the time has come to adorn the walls of the House chamber with something more current and relevant

to today's Hoosier: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives urges the Legislative Council to sponsor a statewide contest to find a replacement for the mural in the House chamber.
