    A HOUSE RESOLUTION to recognize the work of Dr. Thomas G. Patterson, and to congratulate him on his retirement.
    Whereas, Dr. Thomas Patterson is currently the President- Elect of the Indiana Association of School Superintendents, his latest role in a long history of service to the Association, including tenures as Vice-President, Secretary, District Chairperson, and the chair of various IAPSS committees;

    Whereas, In his professional career, Dr. Patterson served as the Superintendent of the Jac-Cen-Del Community School Corporation in Osgood, Indiana, from 1999 until 2002, and as the Superintendent of Madison Consolidated Schools in Madison, Indiana, from 2002 until his retirement this year in 2012;

    Whereas, As Superintendent, Dr. Patterson worked tirelessly to bring into his school corporations the funding and resources necessary to offer the best education possible to Hoosier students, including his efforts at Jac-Cen-Del to secure

a $5,000,000 CAPE grant in partnership with Eli Lilly to create what is today the Indiana Online Academy, and his work to plan and complete a nearly-$11,000,000 renovation of Lydia Middleton Elementary in Madison; and,

    Whereas, The value of Dr. Patterson's work has not only been recognized by his peers and colleagues, but is also evident in the high level of achievement of his students, with both Anderson Elementary and Lydia Middleton Elementary Schools being awarded Four-Star status under his tenure: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives recognizes the many achievements of Dr. Thomas Patterson in the field of education, thanks him for a lifetime of dedicated service to his neighbors and to Hoosier schoolchildren, and wishes him every happiness in his retirement.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Dr. Thomas Patterson.
