    A HOUSE RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to establish an interim study committee to study the topic of the causes of violence and violent crime in Indiana.

    Whereas, Violence and violent crime continue to negatively affect the people of Indiana; and

    Whereas, An understanding of the root causes of violence and violent crime will require the input of numerous and varied stakeholders, including educators, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, religious leaders, community health officials, neighborhood leaders, economists, criminologists, members of the judiciary, and parents: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to establish an interim study committee to study the causes of violence and violent crime in Indiana and to develop solutions.


    SECTION 2. That the committee, if established, shall operate under the direction of the legislative council, and that the committee shall issue a final report when directed to do so by the council.
