A HOUSE RESOLUTION to congratulate the Mishawaka
High School dance team on winning their division at the
Indiana High School Dance Team Association State Finals.
Whereas, this March the girls' dance team of Mishawaka
High School won the novice poms division at the Indiana High
School Dance Team Association State Finals, the school's first
state championship in dance; and,
Whereas, this year's squad, fielding only one senior and a
number of dancers new to the team, was compelled to build its
program from the ground up, beginning in August with the
fundamentals of posing and posture, rehearsed 6 days a week
and ended the season with a total of four first-place finishes in
five invitational events; and,
Whereas, the squad's success this year is due entirely to its members' hard work, perseverance and belief in their own ability to achieve, with every member integral to the team's
success, including Jessica Bonk, Ally Gates, Alycia Harris, Liz
Klowetter, Alyssa Lewis, Lauren Means, Summer Melton,
Ashley Pallo, Abbey Schidler, Sarah Schmitt, Cheyenne
Tjaden, Mikaela Velucci, Andi Zieglear, as well as director
Christa Chavez and assistant director Beth Sikora: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives officially
recognizes and congratulates the Mishawaka High School dance team
on their first state championship, praises the team for their dedication
and commitment, and wishes them every success in the future.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House transmit a copy
of this resolution to squad director Christa Chavez.
