    A HOUSE RESOLUTION to honor Leroy Keyes for his contributions to Purdue University.

    Whereas, Leroy Keyes has been a vital member of the Purdue University community since 1965, distinguishing himself both on and off the field; and,

    Whereas, he has been the recipient of many honors, including being named to the College Football Hall of Fame and the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame, being named Purdue University's "All-Time Greatest Player", being named an All- American in consecutive years, and receiving the 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award, honors he received for his many achievements, which include leading Purdue to the Rose Bowl in 1966, and holding Purdue's record for the highest average yards per rushing attempt; and,

    Whereas, Mr. Keyes has made a continuing contribution to Purdue University athletics through his service as Assistant Coach under Jim Colletto in 1995 and 1996, and later as

Assistant Director of the John Purdue Club; and,

    Whereas, he has had a profound effect and influence on the lives of generations of Purdue student-athletes: Therefore,

    

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives officially recognizes and congratulates Leroy Keyes for his many accomplishments, and thanks him for his lifetime of contribution to athletics at Purdue University.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House transmit a copy of this resolution to Leroy Keyes.
