        A HOUSE RESOLUTION recognizing the contributions of the Indiana Sheriffs' Association.
    

    Whereas, The Indiana Sheriffs' Association was established in 1930 to promote better communication and exchange between the sheriffs and other law enforcement personnel;

    Whereas, Thirty-six years ago, in 1977, the Indiana Sheriffs' Association began placing more emphasis on providing education and training to department personnel;

    Whereas, For the past 80 years, with the aid of its members and supporters, the Indiana Sheriffs' Association has proven itself to be an asset to those in law enforcement and the citizens of Indiana;



    Whereas, Among its many accomplishments, the Indiana Sheriffs' Association has been instrumental in coordinating the Indiana Sheriffs' Sex Offender Registry, and, through its web site, provides law enforcement officials and citizens with detailed information on sex offenders when they move into a new county;

    Whereas, The Indiana Sheriffs' Association is active in the communities throughout our state by providing college scholarships to qualified recipients and two annual leadership camps for teenage boys and girls each summer;

    Whereas, The members of the Indiana Sheriffs' Association work hard to achieve the goal of their slogan: "Building Communities of Trust in All 92 Indiana Counties": Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana House of Representatives recognizes the valuable contribution of the Indiana Sheriffs' Association.
    SECTION 2. The Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Stephen Luce, executive director of the Indiana Sheriffs' Association.
