A RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to assign
to the water resources study committee the topic of water
quality.
Whereas, Water makes life possible and is the single most
vital resource in the world;
Whereas, Our water quality is fragile, and the
responsibility lies with us to protect and restore our precious
water resources;
Whereas, Water quality impacts every aspect of our lives
and is critical to our health and public safety;
Whereas, Clean water is important to retain the
environmental integrity and economic and aesthetic values of
Indiana lakes, streams, wetlands, and ground water;
Whereas, Issues related to water quality are being raised
by public figures, which are helping to raise the public's
awareness of this important issue;
Whereas, Protecting our water resources and improving
our quality of life is essential for future generations; and
Whereas, Water plays a critical role in securing a healthy
and vibrant Indiana society, and clean water must be available
for all Hoosiers to enjoy: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to assign to the water resources study committee the topic of water quality. The committee should include in its study the presence of pharmaceuticals, animal and industrial waste, and hormones in the water supply.
