A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring Jack Dunkley.
Whereas, Becoming a volunteer firefighter requires
extensive training, hard work, and dedication to your
community;
Whereas, Jack Dunkley is a stellar example of such a
dedicated public servant;
Whereas, In 1948, Jack Dunkley was one of the original six
members of the volunteer fire department when his town
purchased a fire truck and established a fire brigade;
Whereas, Jack Dunkley is still serving his community at 90 years of age as a member of the Black Diamond Fire
Department, a department he was instrumental in founding
more than 60 years ago;
Whereas, Jack Dunkley has dedicated his life to helping
others in their time of need;
Whereas, The people of Indiana owe a tremendous debt of
gratitude to Jack Dunkley and the other brave volunteer
firefighters throughout our state who have gone above and
beyond the call of duty in responding to fires and calls for
assistance;
Whereas, For more than 60 years, Jack Dunkley has
answered these calls for assistance, worked to minimize the
displacement of residents, and worked to protect against loss of
life and property; and
Whereas, It is individuals like Jack Dunkley who help make
Indiana communities such great places in which to live:
Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives wishes to thank Jack Dunkley for the contributions he has made to improving the lives of the citizens of his community and Indiana.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit copies of this resolution to Jack Dunkley and his family.
