A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Berley C. Goodin.
Whereas, After 52 years of dedicated service to public
education, Berley C. Goodin is retiring;
Whereas, Berley C. Goodin has dedicated his life to the
children of southeastern Indiana and Scott County School
District 1;
Whereas, Berley began his career in public education in
1961 as a teacher and coach at Scott County School District
1;
Whereas, Berley moved up the ranks, serving as an
assistant principal, principal, and finally as superintendent
of Scott County School District 1;
Whereas, Recognized for his many accomplishments,
Berley C. Goodin has received the Charles Maas
Distinguished Service Award for District 5 presented by the
Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrator's Association,
has been named District 8 Superintendent of the year twice,
was named a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky,
and was named the Outstanding Alumnus of Austin High
School;
Whereas, Active outside the school room, Berley C. Goodin has served as secretary of the Mid Southern Conference for 36 years and is a member of the Scott County Partnership Committee, the Indiana Association of School Business
Officials, the Prosser School of Technology Advisory Board,
the Southeastern Indiana School Study Council, the Madison
Area Special Services Governing Board, the Scott County
Chamber of Commerce, the Austin Rural Enterprise
Governing Board, Scott County Leadership, the Youth
Development Committee, and the Scott County Public
Library Board;
Whereas, Mr. Berley Goodin has also served as president
of the Scott County Health Board; and
Whereas, It is fitting that we recognize the contributions of
Mr. Berley C. Goodin to Indiana public education:
Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly thanks Mr. Berley
C. Goodin for his years of dedicated service to the children of
Southeastern Indiana and wishes him happiness and continued success
in the future.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Berley C. Goodin
and his wife, Doris, and his three children, Lisa, Jerry, and Terry.
