RESOLUTION



        A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the Yorktown High School girls volleyball team.

    Whereas, The Yorktown Tigers (37-2) claimed their second volleyball state championship by defeating Bishop Chatard of Indianapolis 25-13, 25-19, and 25-15;

    Whereas, This victory marked the team's 18th consecutive victory, fourth 3-0 sweep in a row, and fifth sweep of the state tournament;

    Whereas, Emily Wolfert was named winner of the 2011 IHSAA Mental Attitude Award, which is presented to a senior who demonstrates excellence in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership, and athletic ability;

    Whereas, Emily earned a 3.97 grade point average while undertaking several honors and advanced placement classes, is the recipient of Yorktown's Academic Excellence Award, is a member of National Honor Society, and is active in the student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Spanish Club, Drama Club, and peer tutoring; and

    Whereas, Outstanding accomplishments such as this deserve special recognition: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates the

Yorktown High School girls volleyball team on its victory in the Class 3A state championship and wishes the team continued success in all their future endeavors both on and off the court.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to team members Harlie Holding, Taylor Zwickl, Nikki Box, Kati Vasalakis, Katie Miller, Karli Acree, Shannon Nale, Kyleigh Brumley, Emily Wolfert, Nicole Phillips, Courtney Chowning, Rachel Hines, Kelsey Barker, Justine Irelan, team manager Abby Smith, Asstistant Coaches Ari Eaton, Kenna Jones, Rhonda Murr, Jeri Owens, Head Coach Stephanie Bloom, principal Kelly Wittman, athletic director Dan Wolfert, and superintendent Dr. Jennifer McCormick.
