A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Craig J. Hintz.
Whereas, Dr. Craig J. Hintz was selected as the 2013 State
Superintendent of the Year by the Indiana Association of
Public School Superintendents;
Whereas, As superintendent of Warsaw Community School
Corporation, Dr. Hintz has helped the corporation prosper
during a time of declining resources;
Whereas, During his time as superintendent, the Warsaw
Community School Corporation has received numerous
awards and recognitions;
Whereas, Under the guidance of Dr. Hintz, the corporation
was selected by the Indiana Department of Education to
receive the state's largest innovation grant to create an
elementary school science, technology, engineering and
mathematics (STEM) academy and was named the
Organizational Partner of the Year for 2011 for OrthoWorx,
a community based initiative working with the orthopedic
industry and others in the Warsaw area;
Whereas, Warsaw Community School Corporation has also
implemented full-day kindergarten in all its elementary
schools, enhanced the world language offerings, and added
courses in dance, culinary arts, biomedical, Project Lead the
Way curriculum for STEM, orchestra, and additional
Advanced Placement (AP) and dual credit courses;
Whereas, The high school graduation rate has increased by
nearly 12% and student achievement has increased
exponentially under the watchful eye of Dr. Hintz, ranking
the corporation 11th in the state for growth;
Whereas, As the 2013 Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Hintz
will represent Indiana in the American Association of School
Administrators National Superintendent of the Year
program;
Whereas, Dr. Hintz began his teaching career in 1969 as
an elementary and junior high school physical education and
math teacher;
Whereas, Successful both in and out of the classroom, Dr.
Hintz has also served as an assistant principal, principal,
and associate superintendent;
Whereas, Dr. Hintz earned a bachelor's degree from
Truman State University, a master's degree from Phillips
University, an education specialist degree from Western
Illinois University, and a doctorate in education from
Indiana University;
Whereas, Dr. Hintz served in the United States Air Force
and retired from the United States Army Reserve as a
lieutenant colonel; and
Whereas, Dr. Hintz's vision has greatly enhanced education
within the Warsaw Community School Corporation and his
leadership has transformed it into the effective and successful
school district that it is today: Therefore,
