RESOLUTION

        A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Terry Magnuson.

    Whereas, Terry Magnuson, principal of Pleasant Crossing Elementary School in Whiteland, was named the Indiana Association of School Principals District 9 Elementary School Principal of the Year;

    Whereas, Terry Magnuson spent 13 years as a teacher and has been an administrator for 21 years;

    Whereas, Terry Magnuson was named the principal of Pleasant Crossing Elementary School in 2007;

    Whereas, Terry Magnuson knows all of his students by name and makes sure that each of the 500 students at Pleasant Crossing Elementary School receives a personal birthday greeting and a cup on the student's birthday;

    Whereas, A devoted teacher and administrator, Terry Magnuson has accomplished much in his career;

    Whereas, One of the projects he is most proud of is the Early Education project;

    Whereas, The goal of this project was to improve the learning capabilities of Pleasant Crossing's Kindergarten through grade 4 at-risk students;

    Whereas, More than 100 students, the majority of whom are eligible for free and reduced priced lunch, are delivered

to school by bus 40 minutes early and receive additional small group skill practice, additional learning in a computer lab, and enrichment extensions that help to make learning fun, and reading books are given as gifts for each child during the year to encourage reading;

    Whereas, As an administrator, Terry Magnuson values teamwork and schedules weekly meetings for the teachers in every grade level to discuss their goals for their students and to encourage staff development; and

    Whereas, Terry Magnuson is a dedicated school administrator who brings new and fresh ideas into Pleasant Crossing Elementary School that will enable the students to become better adults and more conscientious citizens: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates Terry Magnuson on his selection as the Indiana Association of School Principals District 9 Elementary School Principal of the Year and thanks him for his years of dedicated service to the children of Pleasant Crossing Elementary School and the state of Indiana.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Terry Magnuson and Dr. Rebecca Courtney-Knight, superintendent of Clark-Pleasant School Corporation.
