HOUSE BILL No. 1321


    A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning human services.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SOURCE: IC 12-14-5-5.5; (10)IN1321.1.1. -->     SECTION 1. IC 12-14-5-5.5 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2010]: Sec. 5.5. (a) This section applies to an individual who:
        (1) is less than twenty-five (25) years of age;
        (2) has a child; and
        (3) is a member of a family that receives TANF.
    (b) An individual described in subsection (a) shall attend educational training approved by the division unless the individual has obtained at least an associate's degree.
     (c) A child of an individual described in subsection (a) who is at least two (2) years of age shall attend an educational program approved by the division. The division may approve a child care center or a child care ministry to provide the educational program required by this subsection.
     (d) The division may adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 setting forth guidelines for the educational programs required by this section.
